Influencing the electronic landscape since 2010, Hot Creations has gained notoriety through pioneering a new and unique sound. Also recognised for tirelessly pushing boundaries of house, techno and disco across it’s ever growing and innovative catalogue. One hundred releases later, the label is stronger than ever, celebrating with a mammoth EP from co-founder Jamie Jones.
An ultimate summer jam with elevating synth lines, Sound of Music is a cover version, originally released by Nookie and features chart topping artist Katy B on vocals. Kooky Chords is a dance floor bomb, with melodic breakdowns sure to set any dancefloor on fire. Next, Positive Pressure features label favourite Kevin Knapp, deep and gritty, the bassline swings with spacey layers. Last up, Parallel Universe is a deeply infectious chugger with vocal cuts.
“I'm so honoured to be releasing the 100th record on Hot Creations. It’s been an incredible journey to reach this point and I can't wait for the next 100. As I opened up with the first release on the label, I thought why not start the next 100 on the same foot.” - Jamie Jones
Co-founded with Lee Foss, Hot Creations was the start of an empire, which went on to include sister labels HOT TRAX and Emerald City. Jamie also runs Paradise at DC10 in Ibiza, standing today as one of the most popular nights on the island, it enjoys a close connection to the label.
Remaining at the forefront of the dance world, Hot Creations continues to break new talent and play host to well established producers. Releases have come from artists such as Patrick Topping, Richy Ahmed, Route 94, wAFF and Roisin Murphy amongst many others including pop group Hot Natured. Critically acclaimed albums by Miguel Campbell, Digitaria, Popof and Phil Kieran have all been highlights on the label. Reaching this impressive milestone, it seems only right that Jamie Jones is the one to deliver the 100th release.

Somne debuts on Just This.
The Italian producer, whose real name is Federico Maccherone, presents his first release of 2017 – a solo EP marrying the same ethereal, wide-angle synthesis and intricate drum programming that appears on standout work for Boddika’s Nonplus imprint and the Afterlife label. More than ever, Maccherone shows his range – rolling, meditative recordings sit comfortably alongside some more overtly dance floor material, with both approaches bound by the same high-end production values listeners and DJ’s alike have come to expect from the Somne project.
In various ways, the EP offers a certain degree of insight into Maccherone’s dual identity as a producer of both clinical, dance-floor fare as well as a cerebral, leftfield work – and in turn, how the artist draws together these two strands of creative endeavour to craft unique and profoundly emotive electronic music. Nods to classic IDM and Ambient sit at the periphery of the recordings, although the main focus is on the propulsive, contemporary Techno derivatives – from warping, half-time opener Divided Love, with its crisp, white noise washes and clinical use of distortion – through to Endgame’s exacting, peak-time drive. And whilst the form shifts across the EP from half-time, polyrhythmic work to more direct 4x4 compositions – everything remains bound by the same exquisite, otherworldly atmosphere that touches on the grandiose whilst maintaining a gloriously introspective bent.
Balance comes across as a principle theme on the record, both in terms of production aesthetic and track sequencing, but there is a wonderful contrast between the elements – with the sounds ringing strong and true. The two versions of lead Metropolis that perhaps appear to illustrate in the best way the powerful dichotomy within Maccherone’s work, with the A side version conjuring up a distinctly brooding sentiment – a quintessential example of rolling, contemporary Electronica, whilst the Alternate Mix of the B side offers a more direct, cathartic interpretation – expertly executed for maximum dance-floor effectiveness.
Mature and accomplished, Metropolis is a fine addition to the growing Somne discography. The record paints a picture of a producer in full control of his art, definitely working to create a powerful three-dimensional space of his own within the genre.

''Combining forces, Audiofly and Patrice Bäumel draw on unique inspirations from the desert to deliver the monumental Atacama on Crosstown Rebels. Having focused solely on his own productions in the past, label boss Damian Lazarus steps away for the first time to complete this exceptional release with a profound re-shape.''
The hypnotic Atacama intricately builds with a certain intensity that never drops, stimulating the senses and transporting the mind as deep, grumbling pads drift in and out of play. Damian Lazarus remembers “the first moment I heard this track I knew there was something very special about it, not only did it strike me as a killer club record but I also felt the textures completely appropriate to my own experiences in the Atacama desert.” On the flip, Damian changes gear as a deep, chugging beat leads the way through an impressive re-shape of the original.
Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito aka Audiofly have established a creative empire, which includes two record labels and their Flying Circus global party brand. They met Patrice during a US tour and immediately hit it off. “It wasn't long after that we decided to invite him to Barcelona for a session that proved to be nothing short of Inspirational.”
Internationally renowned DJ and producer Patrice Bäumel has had a busy start to 2017 with a release on Tale Of Us’ Afterlife imprint, plus remixes for Sasha & Policia and Depeche Mode amongst others. He truthfully said of the this release, “it's a labour of love that came together within a few hours of jamming in the studio, unlike many 'collabs' this one really felt like we all equally contributed to the end result.“

In May 2017, DJ Sasha gathered a collection of musicians to perform a unique live show.
"From day one of rehearsals for the Barbican Centre shows everyone was like “We’ve got to do Xpander!” Of course, it was the scariest thing to tackle because it was such a big old record. We slowed it right down, put this really teasing intro in it that sounded very Steve Reich-ian. The moment that it opened up and the riff came in was a really special moment".- Sasha

Bedouin is the Brooklyn-based production and DJ partnership between nomads Rami Abousabe and Tamer Malki. Bringing their unique spell of melodies and rhythms to Crosstown Rebels, they deliver their cover version of the famous Pink Floyd classic, Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun. Guy Gerber also steps in to deliver a deeply mystical dance floor remix.
Sharing an eclectic sonic vision that pulls from diverse influences owing to their Middle Eastern heritage, Western upbringing, and world travels, here Bedouin deliver some of their best productions to date. “Getting the chance to play the song to Pink Floyd’s drummer Nick Mason personally and him liking it was very exciting for us. We're also happy to have the very talented and our good friend Guy Gerber to be the first ever to remix one of our tracks. The b-side, ‘Guacamole’, is an original track conceived in Mexico and made for the dance floor.”
In 2016, as well as touring the world extensively, Bedouin curated a compilation entitled Kindisch Stories and had the honour of recording an Essential Mix for Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show. 2017 saw the launch of their brand SAGA at Heart Ibiza, where they turn Ibiza Sundays into a mirage of musical odysseys. Guy Gerber also runs his highly successful Rumors party in Ibiza on Sundays, which takes the same name as his acclaimed record label.
